Whew! We found the camera! It was in Steve's coat. Turns out we took 59 pictures at the party! I'm sure at least half of those will never see the light of day again, but that's the beauty of digital cameras.
This isn't the greatest picture, but it kind of captures the 'technique' the boys were using. It involved at least one non-foot body part on the floor, and often required a second person for moral support. We left the gutter guards in place, and I'm sure it's the only reason the boys got any of the pins down. They really did have a great time, though, and I think rebounding the balls off the side provided as much fun as actually knocking down the pins.
In this picture, Rebekah is demonstrating the straight-legged ball-dropping stance the girls tended towards. This method didn't lead to much straighter bowling, but seemed to work for them! (They did 'win' after all!)
The little girls mainly relied on pushing the ball toward the pins while Steve and I held our breath and hoped the ball didn't stop on the way!
We were very pleased when the bowling staff showed up with this interesting contraption. It didn't work as well as we thought it might, as any force applied to the ball caused it to bounce and go off course, but it did help a bit. This is Elizabeth getting ready to send the ball down the ramp, while Anna watches.
All in all, it was a fun afternoon. We were all pretty tired today, especially me, and I'm looking forward to a good night sleep. One more birthday and party to go -- Elizabeth's 5th birthday and family dinner on Saturday. Whose idea was it to have all these kids in January?? Oh yeah...
