Better luck next time!

Q: What do you get when you cross a cracked cake with the wrong decorating tip and a new technique at 11:30pm?
A: A "castle" that looks like a dinosaur, or worse.

Trust me, it looks a lot better in the picture than it does in real life. Oh well! It will taste fine. Even if it is a contender for the worst cake I've made so far. It broke coming out of the pan, and when I was doing the main part of the castle, I decided to use a larger tip to save myself some time, but it just blended all together and made a big huge pink mass. I have never done 'leaves' before... no; they aren't worms. Ah well. It's just a cake. I made it myself. How embarrassing.
Tomorrow (well, today, really) is my baby's birthday. I can hardly believe Elizabeth is turning five. She still has the sweet soft skin of a baby, and her kisses are like silk. How can that be? She knows she is precious, and she loves to hear about it. She is a great encourager and constantly tells people they look nice or have done a good job with something. I love that. She has a ton of energy, and our nickname for her is Bizzy. She absolutely loves animals, and was heartbroken that we couldn't bring home this toy horse that she sat on during Rebekah's lesson yesterday.
We got her a Webkinz (the pink and white dog) and the movie Barbie as Rapunzel. I wish I could see her open them, but they are visiting Steve's parents tonight, and will be home about the time I get in from work tomorrow. I miss them already!
We're having my family over for supper tomorrow night to 'officially' celebrate all three January birthdays, hence, the cake. And then, I'm off the hook until August! It's Mandy's turn next, with Trevor in February, Mandy herself in March, and then Jesse in July.
I got in too late last night after rehearsal to write anything, but we took all the kids to watch Rebekah's riding lesson yesterday. They really enjoyed it! Jonathan is still afraid of the horses, but Anna and Elizabeth were very interested. Rebekah's teacher is so impressed with her, and it's fun to see the new things she is learning. Next week is her last week, but I think we'll sign her up to ride once a month so she can keep learning new skills. This picture shows her brushing Coby, the horse she rode yesterday.

Well, I really should go to bed. I'm glad I got the cake done, and hopefully I can pull the house together tomorrow before everyone arrives. It's been a good day!
